Sen Peters pushing for stock trading bill

U.S. Sen. Gary Peters is continuing to push for support of a bill banning members of Congress, the president and vice-president from trading stocks.

It also prohibits Congress member spouses and dependents from holding, buying or selling stocks.

Peters, who is a co-sponsor of the bill, will consider the ETHICS Act with bipartisan changes at a business meeting overseen today by the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

This morning’s meeting marks the first time a Senate Committee will mark up legislation barring stock trading by members of Congress, Peters said.

  1. I applaud Sen. Peters’ for pushing this but, sadly, Congress has shown themselves to have little to no ethics and just because you pass this doesn’t mean it will be enforced. There have been enough ethics violations in the past few years with absolutely no meaningful results that it would be idiotic to think this will make a difference. Grifters will grift and that is the current state of our nation. Electing crooks.
