Stolen truck recovered without tools

Mendon police officers are attempting to locate tools apparently taken from a truck that was stolen – and subsequently recovered – earlier this month.

According to authorities, the pickup was stolen around 4 a.m. July 4 from a residence in the 200 block of East Jackson Street.

The vehicle was located later that day in Portage and a teenager was found in possession of its key fob, police said. The teen was taken into custody.

The victim told police work tools were not in the truck upon its return. Portage Police officials are working with Mendon authorities as the investigation continues.
