Sturgis city manager receives positive review

Sturgis City Manager Andrew Kuk received a positive review of his work as city manager during a recent closed session by Sturgis City Commission members.

The city manager’s performance evaluation is a constructive review that includes 33 questions to determine the strength of Kuk’s work.

City officials agreed Kuk goes above and beyond in his duties. Vice Mayor Aaron Miller, for example, said managers like Kuk are extremely rare and called Kuk’s commitment to Sturgis unwavering.

Perez said Kuk’s commitment to public service was reflected in his desire for a smaller salary than what was proposed.

Before his current role, Kuk served as assistant city manager. He was promoted to interim city manager in December 2022 and hired as permanent city manager in April 2023.
