Woman injured in Cass County crash

A Van Buren County woman required medical treatment after the car she was driving went off the road in order to avoid striking a deer last week in Cass County’s Volinia Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Decatur Road and Fosdick Street regarding a single-vehicle crash.

Authorities said Jenequa Parsons, 31, of Lawrence, was driving west on Fosdick Road when she swerved her vehicle to avoid a deer in the roadway.

Deputies said she lost control of her automobile. It proceeded up an embankment and overturned before coming to a stop in a bean field.

Parsons was able to get out of her vehicle and taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
