Constantine superintendent placed on leave

Less than two months after issuing their district’s leader a contract extension, Constantine Public Schools Board of Education has placed superintendent Joe Holloway on leave.

Due to the matter being a personnel issue, board members said they are not at liberty to elaborate on their decision.

Assistant superintendent Patrick Breen will serve as acting superintendent while Holloway is on leave.

Holloway in June earned a rating of “effective” following his annual evaluation by the district’s board of education.

Following the evaluation, board members said the 45-year-old Holloway, who recently completed his second year as chief of the county’s third-largest school district, said the effective rating reflected his ongoing commitment and contribution to the 1,400-student district.

Board members at the time extended Holloway’s contract through June 2027. Holloway’s 2023-24 salary was $137,000.
