Fred A. Myers, age 79, of LaGrange, died Friday, August 2, 2024, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
He was born on January 1, 1945, in Sturgis to Lyle “Curly” and Velta (Carpenter) Myers.
Fred was a business owner for many years, owning and operating Myers Milk Hauling for 30 years. After hauling milk, he went to work for Ferrellgas in Shipshewana. Fred spent 17 years working for them.
On April 25, 1965, he married Mary Joan Watson in Howe.
He enjoyed restoring Allis-Chalmers tractors, doing woodworking by making toy boxes for his grandchildren and mowing his yard.
Fred is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Joan; daughters, Teresa (Scott) Yunker of Howe, and Tami (John) Smith of Sturgis; six grandchildren, Reese (Carrie) Yunker, Brice (Lila) Yunker, Dakota (Lauren) Smith, Grace Yunker, Dalton (Molly) Smith and Leah Yunker; and two great grandchildren; nieces, Amy Salazar and Debbie Schlabach; and three great nieces and a great nephew.
Preceding Fred in death are his parents; and two sisters, Delores Schlabach and Diane Myers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan St. LaGrange, IN with viewing an hour before the services.
The Rev. David Hughes will officiate the services and burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 6th from 4 to 7 p.m.
Memorials may be given in Fred’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
