Lloyd John Frohriep, age 84, of Burr Oak, passed away Monday afternoon, August 12, 2024, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born December 10, 1939, in Sturgis, son of the late John Henry and Bertha E. (Byer) Frohriep.
Lloyd was a lifelong Burr Oak resident and graduate of Brighton High School in Brighton, Indiana with the class of 1958.
On November 28, 1964, he married Joyce Pelmear at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak.
His entire working life was in commercial trucking. Being in his truck and on the road gave his life purpose. He owned and operated with his father Frohriep Trucking until retirement. Following his retirement, he joined Schwartz Trucking driving until the age of 82. His first steps into working life began at an early age with Cary Glad Farms working in the gladiola fields. Lloyd’s love of gladiolas was lifelong. He never tired of walking in the glad fields, and the flower was always his favorite gift to family and friends.
Lloyd was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis.
He enjoyed his 1947 Harley Davidson Knucklehead motorcycle which he totally restored. Lloyd was happiest when he was taking walks or working in his woods and when he was surrounded by his cherished family.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 60 years: Joyce; daughters: Cathy Ann (Robert) Durham of East Lyme, Connecticut, Kimberly Kay (Doug) Schwartz and Heather Marie Frohriep both of Burr Oak; seven grandchildren: Olivia Durham, Ann Marie (Tom) VanLangen, John Durham, Justin Schwartz, Dylan Schwartz, Lauren “Lolo” Swett and Tyler Swett; great granddaughter: Kennedy Rose VanLangen and brother: Roy (Sharon) Frohriep of Burr Oak.
He was preceded in death by his parents and niece: Kelly Goldman
