Serious injuries in Nottawa Township crash

St. Joseph County Sheriff deputies responded to Nottawa Road near Wasepi Road in Nottawa Township on Saturday for the report of a traffic crash with injuries. Initial investigation shows a passenger car being driven by a 16-year-old Mendon resident was northbound on Nottawa Road and crossed the centerline, colliding head-on with a south bound van. Two juvenile passengers from the van were transported to area hospitals via helicopter. Multiple additional adult and juvenile passengers were transported to area hospitals via ambulance. At this time their conditions are unknown. Seatbelts were worn. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors. This crash remains under investigation.

The Sheriffs Office was assisted on scene by Centreville Fire Department, Three Rivers Fire Department, Mendon Fire Department, Tri-Township Fire Department, Lifecare Ambulance, MedFlight, Parkview Samaritan, Colon Police Department, and Bowers Towing.
