Tom Spaulding, 88

Thomas Lee Spaulding, age 88, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.

He was born May 22, 1936, in Jackson, Michigan, son of the late Clarence E. and Grace G. (Trim) Spaulding.

Tom resided most of his life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1956.

He had been employed by the City of Sturgis and Olson Bodies in Sturgis.

Tom was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where he was a member of the Men’s Club and was currently attending Florence Church of the Brethren Mennonite.

Tom was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army earning the rank of Private. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the art of leathercraft.

He is survived by daughter: Bethany (Gaylon) Tacket; grandson: Joseph Spaulding; special friends: James and Faith Carpenter of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Anthony Wayne Spaulding; sister: Patricia Grace Irey and brother: Clarence E. Spaulding, Jr.

The family would like to express their never ending thanks to Jim and Faith Carpenter for befriending Tom and the exceptional care and love they extended to him. The Carpenters are truly gifts from God.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 25th at Pretty Prairie Cemetery 4595 E 750 N, Howe, IN 46746. Pastor David Shenk will officiate.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes, of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
