Glen Oaks Community College officials have announced the school’s participation in the Michigan Community College Guarantee, offering tuition-free associate degrees or skills certificates to eligible, local high school graduates.
The initiative, part of a statewide effort to increase higher education accessibility, could save students up to $4,800 annually.
Tonya Howden, vice president of student services, said starting this academic year, Michigan high school graduates from the class of 2023 and beyond may earn an associate degree, transfer credits or a career certificate tuition-free at Glen Oaks.
Eligibility requirements call for potential recipients to: complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid; be a Michigan resident since July 1 of the previous calendar year; graduate from a Michigan high school or earn an equivalent certificate; enroll full-time at Glen Oaks within 15 months of high school graduation.
The scholarship covers in-district tuition and is renewable for up to three years at Glen Oaks.
