Two arrested in case of inmate death

Two people who allegedly played a part in the overdose death of a prison inmate in Branch County have been arraigned.

According to a Michigan State Police media release, inmate Evellis McGee, 30, and Saginaw resident Aaliyah Lent, 24, were arrested on warrants issued after Lakeland Correctional inmate William Wilson was found deceased in October 2023.

An autopsy found Wilson had died after ingesting a substance later identified as methamphetamine.

Detroit resident Dezaray Brown-Bobo was arrested in March for her role in smuggling the drugs that led to Wilson’s death, authorities said.

McGee was charged July 30 and Lent was arrested Friday in Detroit by Michigan State Police Fugitive Team.
