Woman rescued from lake

An out-of-state woman was rescued from a vehicle after she drove it into a lake last week in White Pigeon Township.

Authorities said the Las Vegas woman likely suffered a medical condition prior to the incident, which occurred around 9 a.m. Friday.

Troopers said they were told by witnesses the minivan sped through an intersection without stopping and into a lake, which was not named by authorities.

Upon arrival, troopers found the vehicle partially submerged and sinking. With the aid of a neighbor’s pontoon boat, troopers reached the 37-year-old driver and pulled her from her vehicle through its driver’s side window.

The driver was treated at Elkhart General Hospital for minor injuries.
