Burdena J. “Burt” Riley, age 83, of Sturgis,passed away early Monday morning, September 16, 2024, at the Sturgis Hospital Emergency Room.
She was born May 19, 1941, in Sturgis, daughter of the late Ray C. and F. Dorothy (Rumbaugh) Hart.
Burt resided most of her life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1959.
On September 13, 1975 she married Jack Riley at the Sturgis Wesleyan Church in Sturgis.
For many years she owned and operated, with her husband Jack, Tribbetts Womens Apparel in Sturgis, until retiring in 2004.
She enjoyed puzzles, and loved the flowers she grew in her gardens. Burt’s greatest joy was just spending time with Jack.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 49 years: Jack; daughter: Laura (Jared) Eckerley of Niles; grandchildren: Hailey Dudek and Zachery Dudek and several nieces, nephews and cousin including special cousin: Vivian (John) Fennell of Fulton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Estella Jackson; brothers: Daniel Hart and Raymond Dale Hart and Sister-in-law: Jean Ann Pearson.
Private graveside services and interment took place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Pastor Jared Eckerley officiated.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
