Fatal Cass County crash

An Ohio teenager died over the weekend in a two-vehicle crash in Cass County’s Jefferson Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called at 10:20 p.m. Sunday to the intersection of M-60 and Dailey Road.

Investigators said 19-year-old Kennedi Webster, of Hamilton, Ohio, was driving south on Dailey Road when she failed to stop at the M-60 intersection. Her car was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Niles resident Michael York, 53.

Authorities said Webster was pronounced deceased at the scene.

York and his three passengers – 40-year-old Steven Roberts and 44-year-old Tony Jernigan, both of Niles, and 67-year-old Harry Kiste, of Elkhart – were transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital.

Seat belt use is unknown. Authorities said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors contributing to the crash.

The intersection includes a pair of blinkers cautioning Dailey Road motorists to stop at the crossroads.
