Frank Cerny, 71 and Deborah Cerny, 71

Husband and wife, Frank “Skeeter” and Deborah Cerny, both passed away the last week of August within twelve hours of one another on August 27, 2024.  Frank was born on December 11, 1952 in Battle Creek, the son of Frank Sr. and Mary (Wojciechowski) Cerny.  Deb was born on October 5, 1952 in Vicksburg, the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Dokey) Woods.  On October 5, 1973, Skeeter and Deb married in St. Joseph County.  For the bulk of his life Frank was a carpenter, showcasing his talents at local construction sites.  Deborah made a living for many, many years working at the local plastics factories in Mendon.  Deb also attended Mendon High School and was part of the 1971 graduating class.  Skeeter and Deb were a simple couple who enjoyed the simple things in life, together.  Frank enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles, while Deb loved reading books in the sun and watching her hummingbirds.

Frank and Deb are survived by their two children; Jessica (Noel) Lace and Melanie Cerny; five siblings; Mary Lou (Barry) McDonald, Don (Shannon) Cerny, Pat Hildebrand, Ron (Ruth) Cerny, Stan Cerny and Joyce; seven grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, cousins, and relatives.  Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Mary Cerny.  Deb was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Elizabeth Woods; siblings; Linda Crabtree, Joseph Woods, Bill Woods, Sandra Dentler, Pam Dare, and Frederick Woods

In keeping with family wishes, cremation is being conducted.  A private family ceremony will take place at a later date.  On October 5, 2024 (their wedding anniversary) there will be an open house at the Leonidas Community Center Grange Hall (30980 King Road, Leonidas, MI 49066) at 12:00 Noon.  It is suggested that donations in memory of Frank and Deb, be made out to the family to help cover funeral expenses.  Condolences and memories may be express to the family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
