Helen Sophia Baker, age 81, of Sturgis, passed away on September 11, 2024, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born January 24, 1943, in Chicago, daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Barber) Rank.
Helen resided in Sturgis most of her life.
She married Dennis Leon Baker who preceded her in death January 4, 2023.
Helen retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following several years of dedicated employment.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis and enjoyed word search puzzles, crocheting, music and dancing. Helen was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her sons: Dan (Hillary) Baker of Otsego, Ron (Monica) Baker of Sturgis, and Lee Baker of Sweetwater, Tennessee; grandchildren: Justin, Natasha, Courtney, Paige, Alisha, Vincent and Aaron; great grandchildren: Kayden, Mabel, Karsen, Cordelia, Wyatte , Elenor and Ashton; sister-in-law: Nancy Wilson and Ellen Baker both of Sturgis.
In honoring Helen’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
