Investigation continues regarding threat to TR Schools

Three Rivers Community Schools Superintendent Nikki Nash issued a letter to district families regarding alleged threats made last week.

The district closed Thursday and Friday in response to the threats. Nash said the decision was made to not open as a precaution.

She said district officials are working closely with law-enforcement authorities and an independent investigation has been conducted. Nash said it was concluded that there is no immediate or credible threat.

Due to student confidentiality laws, the district is not able to provide details about the investigation or students possibly tied to the threats. Local authorities, however, said last week that a student was taken to the Three Rivers Police Department by his mother.

Nash said postings on social media websites are not advised, as they have the potential to create anxiety and fear.

The two canceled days count toward the district’s allocation of six for the school year, meaning they may have to be made up in June.
