Kenneth Lewis “Kenny” Miller, age 40, of Battle Creek, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Central Christian Church, 713 Riverside Dr., Battle Creek, MI 49015, with Pastor Rob Schwartz officiating and military honors to be presented. Visitation will take place on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., also at Christian Central Church. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation in Union City.
Kenny was born on September 26, 1983, to Paul and Linda (Baker) Miller in Battle Creek. He graduated from Climax-Scotts High School in the Class of 2003. Kenny proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years, completing tours at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, as well as Okinawa, Japan, and Afghanistan. His life changed forever on April 1, 2008, when he met his soulmate, Courtney Goodroe. They were married on January 17, 2010.
After his service, Kenny dedicated himself to being a stay-at-home dad, pouring his heart and soul into his children and family. He was also a full-time student at Western Michigan University, where he excelled in the marketing program, earning a spot on the Dean’s List with only a couple of classes left to complete and an impressive 147 credit hours. His love for learning was evident in everything he pursued. His humor, grace, and wisdom were a source of strength for his loved ones. Kenny was committed to meeting every need of his children, showing unmatched attention to detail and a remarkable ability to anticipate what was needed.
Throughout his life, Kenny evolved through many roles, each one better than the last. He touched the lives of everyone he met and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Known for his vast knowledge of random facts, Kenny was the friend you could always count on for trivia.
Kenny is survived by his beloved wife, Courtney; his mother, Linda; and his children, Trenton Miller of Bolton, MI; Sadie Miller of Battle Creek; and Christian “Bubba” Miller of Battle Creek; his brothers, Mike (Terra) Miller of Three Rivers, and Jeffrey Miller of Mexico; his sister, Tammy (Austin) Ardrey of Athens, MI; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Susan Goodroe of Farmington Hills, MI; his sisters-in-law, Tracy Williams of Athens and Rebecca Kausrud of Battle Creek; and his brothers-in-law, Joseph (Chez) Goodroe of Howell, MI; Kyle (Maggie) Goodroe of Monument, CO; Alex (Ashley) Goodroe of Hastings, MI; Travis Goodroe of Farmington Hills, and Jacob Goodroe of Farmington Hills, MI; and along with his 29 beloved nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Paul, and both his paternal and maternal grandparents. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
