Out and About – Week of September 30th

Here are six things that we should realize by the time we reach the age of 25. However, most people never understand number six until they turn 40:

— Life is 100% better when no one knows anything about you.
— You shouldn’t take advice from people who are not where you want to be in life.
— Everyone will show you who they are, just give them time.
— You need to be smart enough to create your own opportunities. Don’t wait for them to come to you.
— The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage. In life you must take action if you want to experience freedom.
— Number Six: You will always have problems. You will always have some sort of conflict going on in your life. You must learn to enjoy life while still solving them. There is beauty in everything we experience, you just need to adjust your perception. You can either cry in the storm, or dance in the rain.

Immaculate Conception Catholic School, 601 South Douglas, in Three Rivers, would like to invite everyone to a Wine and Cheese Tasting on Saturday, October 5, from 5 to 6:30 PM. At this time, the Sisters of St. Joseph Legacy will honor James “Jimmy” Dal Ponte in recognition of his dedication to ICC School. Jimmy was a strong advocate and proud supporter of Catholic Education. He volunteered countless hours towards the mission of Immaculate Conception School.

The event is hosted by St. Julian Winery and will kickoff the IC School Annual Fund Drive. The venue for this celebration is the Multi-Purpose Building.

The Annual Three Rivers Fall Color Tour is happening Sunday, October 13. We haven’t had a real frost yet this year, but there still is time before the tour. Whether the trees are ready or not, there are many groups who will be ready to show everyone a great Sunday afternoon. I’m pretty sure the Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce has more information on all the activities available for those interested in a family-oriented day.

One example of a must-visit location is Hubbard’s Corey Lake Orchard. Besides a wide assortment of fruit and vegetables, they will have a loaded Baked Potato Bar, a loaded Nachos Bar, and Homemade Kettle Corn. These three tasty attractions will benefit the Three Rivers Promise. Please check WLKM-FM 95.9 / WRCI-FM 97.1 or the Three Rivers Commercial-News for more information.

I’ve said it before, the Three Rivers area and St. Joe County have so many activities for people of all ages. All you have to do is seek them out.

Here are five great truths that little children have learned:

— No matter how hard you try, you can’t baptize cats.
— When your mom is mad at your dad, don’t let her brush your hair.
— If your sister hits you, don’t hit her back. They always catch the second person.
— Never ask your three year old brother to hold a tomato.
— You can’t trust dogs to watch your food.
I’ll have five more truths in a week or so. Hope these put a smile on your face.

See you Out and About!
