Michigan Department of Transportation’s Chris Jacobs has issued an update regarding the second phase of U.S. 131 construction.
The project, which started April 15, is concentrated to an area that includes the village of Schoolcraft and an area north to Shaver Road.
According to Jacobs, recently completed work includes the rebuild of the east half of the Eliza Street intersection; the rebuild of Shaver Road intersection and signal work; hot-mix asphalt base and leveling the northbound lane of U.S. 131 from the railroad crossing to Lyons Street; milling and repaving the east half of the U Avenue intersection; and culvert cleanout north of Lyons Street.
The two-week outlook includes installation of permanent signs; addition of curbs, driveways and sidewalks from the railroad to Lyons Street; signal work at Eliza Street, ditch cleanout at the railroad; and rebuilding the west portion of U Avenue.
Upcoming work will center on opening the east leg of Eliza Street and opening Shaver Road.
