Area schools make football playoffs

Seven area high school teams qualified for the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s playoffs.

All games are slated to be played at 7 o’clock Friday night.

In 8-player Division 1, a battle of 8-1 teams will square off in Kalamazoo County, where Mendon takes on Climax-Scotts. In 8-player Division 2, a pair of teams with 7-2 records are on a collision course, as Burr Oak travels to Pittsford to take on the Wildcats.

In 11-man play, Centreville managed to sneak into the playoffs with a 4-5 record in Division 8. The Bulldogs travel to Decatur to face the 8-1 Raiders. Also in Division 8 and in the only contest to be played in St. Joseph County, 8-1 White Pigeon hosts 6-3 Saugatuck in a rematch of last year’s district finals.

Next, in Division 7, Bronson, which finished 6-3 in the regular season, is at Schoolcraft to contest the 8-1 Eagles.

Finally, in what has the potential to be a solid matchup, 6-3 Constantine travels to Parchment to battle the 7-2 Panthers.
