September’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County decreased by nearly a full percentage point from August.
Figures from the monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget show St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate fell from 5.3 percent in August to 4.4 percent in September.
In addition, Cass County also experienced a drop in its unemployment figures from August to September. Its August rate was 5.5 percent and lowered to 4.6 percent a month later.
Meanwhile, Branch County’s one-month unemployment rate fell in September from the previous month. It was 4.5 percent in August and dropped to 3.8 percent in September.
Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September was 4.2 percent, down from 4.5 percent in August.
