Dorothy R. Montbriand, age 94, of Sturgis, died Friday, October 4, 2024, at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
She was born on October 24, 1929, in Chicago to John V. Sr. and Muriel (Coppess) McNeil.
Dorothy was a 1947 graduate of Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois. She furthered her education at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, and Gregg Business College.
She worked from 1963 to 1980 as a supervisor in the Dental Claims Department at Travelers Insurance Company. After that job, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Glen Oaks Community College from 1982 until her retirement in 1995.
She married LeRoy Montbriand on August 12, 1968, in Park Forest, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 2018.
Surviving Dorothy is her son, Robert Moffat of Park Forest, Illinois; step-daughters, Jean Finney of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Lynn (John) Dobberteen of Sturgis; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, David Hansen of Howe, Indiana.
Preceding Dorothy in death are her parents; a daughter, Nancy Hansen; a son, Thomas Moffat; a step-son, Daniel Montbriand; a sister, Jean Williams; and a brother, John V. McNeil, Jr.
According to Dorothy’s wishes, cremation is taking place and private family services will be held.
