Kalamazoo woman wins on scratch ticket

A 33-year-old Kalamazoo woman recently won a $2 million top prize in a Michigan Lottery scratch-off game.

The woman purchased the winning ticket at Hoffman’s Corner Store, 5905 S. Westnedge Ave., in Portage. The game, Colossal Cashword, costs $30 per ticket. The woman’s ticket featured the maximum 10 words, the quantity needed to collect the game’s top prize.

Lottery officials said the woman chose to take a lump-sum payment of $1.3 million. She told lottery staff she plans to pay bills and save the rest for her children.
