MDOT update on US131 project

Michigan Department of Transportation’s Chris Jacobs has issued an update regarding the second phase of U.S. 131 construction.

The project, which started April 15, is concentrated to an area that includes the village of Schoolcraft and an area north to Shaver Road.

According to Jacobs, recently completed work includes installation of curbs, driveways and sidewalks; signal work was completed at Shaver Road and its Michigan left-turn lane; the west portion of U Avenue is finished; and hot-mix asphalt has been applied from the railroad crossing north to Lyons Street.

The two-week outlook includes installation of permanent signs; signal work at Eliza Street; restoration of brick pavers; and application of permanent pavement markings

Upcoming changes include the opening of U Avenue, beginning next week, northbound and southbound traffic will switch into the median lane.
