Alfred “Wes” Kocher, age 82, of Colon, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Wes was born in Sparta, Illinois on November 26, 1941, a son to the late Alfred and Beulah (Williams) Kocher.
On May 4, 1963, Wes married Patricia A. Norton at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, in South Holland, Illinois.
Wes served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. After his honorable discharge Wes worked as an auto mechanic. He owned Wes’s Auto Repair in South Holland, Illinois, for 25 years. Wes and Pat purchased their home in Colon in 1999 and became full time residents in 2011. Wes was a tinkerer and loved to fix things. He was always there to lend a helping hand when someone needed it. Wes had a great sense of humor and was always trying to be funny. When he wasn’t cracking jokes or fixing things he enjoyed fishing.
Surviving Wes is his wife of 61 years Patricia A. Kocher of Colon, daughter Michelle Kocher of Lansing, Illinois, son Bob (Crystal) Kocher of Cedar Lake, Indiana, and 4 grandchildren: Megan, Ian, Sydney, and Joshua.
Besides his parents Alfred and Beulah Kocher, Wes was preceded in death by his 5 siblings.
Following in his wishes cremation has taken place. There are no services planned at this time.
