Woman injured in single-car crash

A Kalamazoo County woman was hospitalized following a one-vehicle crash over the weekend in Cass County’s Newberg Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies responded at 1 p.m. Saturday to a personal-injury crash on Wood Lake Road, near Welburn Street.

Investigators said a vehicle driven by Charlotte Barrow, 19, of Kalamazoo, was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Wood Lake Road. As Barrow’s vehicle crested the hill, it went airborne then lost control.

Authorities said Barrow’s vehicle then left the roadway, overturned and struck an unoccupied mobile home being used for storage. Both the vehicle and mobile home then caught on fire.

Barrow was transported to Three Rivers Health. Investigators said neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors in the crash.
