Alma Hicks, 83

Alma Rees Hicks, age 83, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday morning, November 16, 2024 at Optalis Health and Rehabilitation in Three Rivers.

She was born June 12, 1941, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, daughter of the late Earl and Elsie (Moore) Morrison.

Alma resided in Sturgis since 1965 coming from Cynthiana.

On December 15, 1956, she married Billy E. Hicks in Cynthiana. He preceded her in death July 28, 2010.

In 2005 she retired from Sturgis Molded Products following 34 years of dedicated employment. She had also worked at Transogram in Sturgis and Elias Brothers Big Boy while still living in Kentucky.

Alma enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, antiques, crossword puzzles, and her flowers. She was an avid reader, especially Stephen King novels.

She is survived by her son: Douglas (Cathy Barnes) Hicks of Sturgis; daughters: Sheryl King of Burr Oak and Connie Clements of Sturgis; grandchildren: Ryan Hicks of Sturgis, Reesa Johnson of Three Rivers and Serena (John) Lipscomb of Elkhart; step-grandchildren: Jim Clements, Jr. and Patricia (Nathan) Cranson, both of Bronson; 10 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and three brothers.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 21st at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Alma Rees Hicks will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00. A graveside committal will follow the service at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
