Bonnie L. (Crawford) McDowell, age 69, of Sturgis, passed away following a brief illness on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Ascension Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in LaGrange on February 7, 1955 the daughter of Sherman and Helen (Anthony) Crawford. Bonnie married Arthur Hack, and together they raised a daughter, Trina; Art preceded Bonnie in passing. Bonnie later married Bruce McDowell.
Bonnie was a hard-working woman, sewing for the R.V. industry for over 40 years. She loved gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers, especially her roses, tulips, geraniums, hibiscus, lilacs, and begonias. Bonnie was an animal lover, taking care of her 65 goats and would even take Snickers out for a walk. She adored her puppies tremendously, and her dogs reciprocated that love back to her. Bonnie loved talking with people and could make friends with complete strangers from strange places. She was a fan of all kinds of music, but preferred old school country music (the good kind). Bonnie loved making everyone smile and laugh but was stubborn enough to make that difficult at times. She loved being outdoors, watching her cardinals and hummingbirds flutter around, and going mushroom hunting in the woods. Most importantly, she adored her family, and left a lasting impression on her granddaughters, wheelchair racing around Walmart.
Bonnie is survived by her husband; Bruce McDowell of Sturgis; daughter Trina (Chris) Boyles of LaGrange; two step sons; Norm (Kathy) McDowell and Brian (Heather) McDowell both of Three Rivers; four grandchildren; Courtney Kerns, Andrea (Skylar) Kerns, Victoria Huddleston, and Brian McDowell Jr.; great-grandchild; Persephone; two siblings; Barbara (Marty) Burgi and Gloria Grewe; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Helen Crawford; first husband, Arthur Hack; sister, JoAnn Braun; niece, JoEllen; and nephew, Jerry Burgi.
Visiting hours for Bonnie will take place at the Eickhoff Funeral Home (311 W Main St, Mendon, MI 49072) on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 12pm until 2pm, with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 with Pastor Glenn Russell officiating.
