Centreville schools chooses new CTE instructor

Centreville Public Schools has prepared to fill a soon-to-be vacated Career and Technical Education position.

During their board meeting Monday, members of the district’s board of education agreed to hire Jennifer Newman to replace Chad Spence as CTE Public Safety instructor.

Spence created the program and has served as its instructor since its debut at Centreville High School in the 2022-23 academic year. It currently has 35 students from school districts throughout the county.

Spence said he turned in his letter of resignation Monday in advance of his impending move to St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.

Centreville Superintendent Chad Brady said 11 people applied for the job and the district leaned on Spence to help guide the district in its search for a replacement.
