Charles A Carpenter, age 86, of White Pigeon, died on Thursday, October 31, 2024 following a short illness. He was born on June 13, 1938 in Clear Springs Township, Indiana the Son of Kenneth and Maureen (Holman) Carpenter.
Charles moved to White Pigeon in 1979 from Shipshewana. He was the owner of Carpenter’s Construction. He was a member of the White Pigeon and Sturgis Bowling Leagues, avid golfer, White Pigeon Grange Fair Board Member, and Speed Superintendent for Harness Horse racing at the fair. He drove race horses in Chicago. He was a member of the Elks, White Pigeon School Board 11 years, active in White Pigeon School Athletics and fund raising for the Athletic Complex. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and Lake Erie with his Sons. He donated many hours to the United Methodist Church doing repairs, mowing, and snow plowing. He was also a White Pigeon Citizen of the Year.
Charles married Patricia Jane Tavernier on May 4, 1979. She survives with his children Jeff (Brenda) Carpenter, Charles (Christine) Carpenter Jr, Norman (Linda) Carpenter, Mary (Jonas) Miller, Mike (Shawna) Kershner, Laurie (David) Groves. 20 Grandchildren, several great Grandchildren. Sister Barbara Jewett , and several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Sisters, and Brother.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at The Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon where Services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Michelle Perkins of the White Pigeon United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
