David Russell Land, age 74, of Sturgis, was surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, November 22, 2024, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born May 4, 1950, in Augusta, Georgia, son of the late Russell and Betty (Coffey) Land.
David resided in Sturgis for over 30 years. Prior to coming to Sturgis, he lived in Marcellus and White Pigeon.
On November 28, 1970, he married Judith Ann Harris in Marcellus.
David was employed by Coachman RV in Middlebury, and Gray Brothers Stamping in White Pigeon, and he was a talented mechanic.
David was raised in the Baptist church.
He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, reading, and watching NASCAR races, his family all knew when racing was on no talking. He cherished his 1972 restored Dodge Deamon. David had hobbies and interests, but what he truly loved was time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 53 years, Judith Ann; daughters: Adrienne Sutton of Bronson and Briana (Joseph) McClish of Sturgis; son: Darrin (Sharon) Land of Constantine; grandchildren: Logan, Mariah (Jesse), Dallas (Kie), Stephanie, Paige and Keelie (Mauricio); great grandchildren: Maddox, Ivy, Connor, Bayleigh, David, Samantha, Makenzie, Dwayne, Theodore and Journei; sisters: Nancy (David) Kemp of Wellston, Mary Atkinson of Florida, Elizabeth (Scott) Shultz and Suzie (Ron) VanOver both of Marcellus and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Kathy Stubbs and Deborah Land and brother: Ronald Land.
In honoring David’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2025.
