Fatal crash in Florence Township

Two Constantine residents died in a head-on crash last weekend in Florence Township.

State police responded around 9:30 a.m. Sunday to Sevison Road, near the intersection of Mintdale Road.

Investigators said the 22-year-old driver of a Mercedes was heading north on Sevison Road when the driver, a White Pigeon resident, lost control. The vehicle crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a southbound pickup, authorities said.

The driver and passenger of the pickup – identified as 60-year-old Ronda Arndt and her husband, 51-year-old Shawn Arndt – were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Before the crash, police tried to stop the Mercedes in an area on U.S. 131, but the driver did not stop.

The Mercedes driver reportedly had a suspended license. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
