GoFundMe set up for Sturgis girl’s funeral expenses

An online campaign has been established to help raise funds to help cover the cost of a funeral for a 2-year-old Sturgis Township girl.

Family members have set up a GoFundMe page to assist with burial expenses for Octavia Bohne. The youngster was pronounced dead inside her mobile home Thursday; her mother was arrested.

Paige Nichole Bohne, 21, was arraigned on a charge of open murder Friday and denied bond, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department. Bohne was arrested after deputies and first responders were dispatched to the Memory Lane Trailer Park on U.S. 12 for an unresponsive child shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday.

Shelby Bohne, great aunt of Octavia, said the GoFundMe will help cover funeral costs and the expense of a gravestone. By Monday afternoon, nearly $3,000 had been raised, family members said.

Shelby Bohne said she was grateful for the support from the community.

Octavia’s funeral takes place Wednesday in Bronson.

Paige Bohne, meanwhile, is scheduled for a pre-exam conference Nov. 19. Octavia’s cause and manner of death have not been released.

  1. The obituary says do NOT give money to GoFundMe —someone using that website to rip people off? Give to the funeral home instead.

  2. I read that too. I trust the obituary more than GoFundMe! People get duped every day by scammers. Spread the word! Do not give to GoFundMe!
