Health department offering free birth control and STD prevention supplies

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is making birth control and sexually transmitted infection prevention supplies available for free across the state of Michigan in November.

Agency officials said access to contraception empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their reproductive health and keeps people healthy.

Locations across Michigan will have supplies at no cost available on a first-come, first-served basis through the end of the month.

Sites will have condoms, over-the-counter emergency contraception and over-the-counter oral contraceptive pill available while supplies last at no cost.

Information will also be available on family-planning services and health insurance coverage.

Local availability is in Three Rivers, Sturgis and Coldwater through the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.

The Three Rivers site is at 1110 Hill St., the Sturgis location is at 1555 E. Chicago Road and the Coldwater facility is at 570 Marshall Road.
