Here’s a reminder that Fibre Converters of Constantine is offering a matching grant of up to $100,000 toward installation of new playground equipment at Meyer Broadway Park in Fabius Township.
St. Joseph County Parks and Recreation Director Jaymes MacDonald said total cost of the project is $320,000. The county has already received a $77,000 grant and plans to provide in-kind services of nearly $40,000 for removal of old equipment, site excavation and installation of mulch.
Nonetheless, MacDonald said, there is still a $200,000 shortfall. If the agency can raise $100,000 before the end of the calendar year, it will qualify for the match and meet its goal of $200,000, MacDonald noted.
Meyer Broadway, the county’s most popular park based on attendance figures, draws about 300,000 people a year, MacDonald said.
