Two of three local high school varsity football teams bowed out of the state playoffs last weekend.
The surviving team – Schoolcraft High School – will attempt Saturday to continue its march to Ford Field for a potential state title.
In 8-man, Division 1 action last weekend, Mendon came up short in a 49-32 defeat at Deckerville High School. The Hornets end their season with a 10-2 record.
Meanwhile, in Division 6, Constantine was outmanned in a 36-point road loss to Jackson Lumen Christi. The Falcons finished the 2024 season with an 8-4 record.
In Division 7, Schoolcraft claimed a 28-16 win over Hudson last weekend.
Now 11-1, the Eagles face undefeated Monroe St. Mary Catholic. The state semi-final contest starts at noon Saturday at Harper Creek High School.
The victor will play for a state title Nov. 30 against Saturday’s winner of the Millington versus North Muskegon contest.
