State police officer promoted

Michigan State Police has announced the promotion and new assignment of a long-time officer.

First Lt. Jeremy Carlisle has been promoted to captain. In addition, he has been appointed commander of the Fifth District. The region covers Southwest Michigan.

Carlisle replaces Captain Michael Brown, who recently retired.

In his capacity as commander, Carlisle will oversee services for MSP posts in St. Joseph, Branch and Cass and six other counties.

Prior to the promotion, Carlisle was sergeant at the Paw Paw post.
