Sturgis voters to decide on chicken amendment

Sturgis residents in Precinct 1 will decide whether to support Rick Bir or Steve Shevick to the post of 1st District commissioner.

Also, all Sturgis city residents will decide whether to back a proposed ordinance amendment related to chickens.

The request is being sought to determine if residents are allowed to keep as pets up to six hens per single-family residence.

The proposed amended ordinance would not allow roosters, crowing hens or guinea chickens.
