A benefit 5K is being organized to help a Centreville Junior High teacher battling breast cancer.
“Love For Laura” is a New Year’s Day fundraiser to help Laura Wilson. Wilson, who teaches ELA, recently underwent surgery, now faces weeks of radiation followed by hormone therapy.
Registration fee is $30. Event organizers said 100 percent of all funds will be turned over to the Wilson family. Kids 12 and younger are welcome to participate for free.
Participants are asked to meet at the pavilion area next to Brady Township, just north of Vicksburg. Registration starts at 10 a.m. The walk/run begins at 11 o’clock.
Participants are encouraged to wear pink as a show of support.
Wilson, who previously taught several years at Vicksburg Community Schools, is the sister of Centreville Public Schools Superintendent Chad Brady.
