Bill Dunafin, 78

William L. “Bill” Dunafin, age 78, of LaGrange, died Monday, December 9, 2024 at Orchard Pointe Health Campus, Kendallville, IN.

He was born on August 13, 1946, to the late, Robert Lee and Gloria J. (Frutig) Dunafin.

Bill was a lifetime LaGrange resident. He was in the last graduating class from LaGrange High School the Class of 1964.

After graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1966 and served until 1970. During his Air Force service, he was the crew chief of the B52 bomber 61-0036 which is still flying today.

On May 17, 1969, in LaGrange, he married Jan E. Jollief. She preceded Bill in death on March 13, 1993.

Bill work for Burr Oak Tool & Die in Sturgis from 1980 until his retirement in 2009. He worked as the shipping and receiving supervisor for many years.

He was a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post #215, Meridian Sun Lodge F&AM #76, LaGrange County Shrine Club and Mizpah Shrine. Bill was also an avid Cleveland Indian’s Fan.

Surviving Bill are his two sons, Shawn (Laura) Dunafin of Kendallville, and Shane Dunafin of LaGrange; three grandchildren, Aidan Dreibelbis, Kaitlyn Dunafin and Molly Dunafin; and a brother, Robert “Bob” (Louise) Dunafin of Wolcottville, IN.

A visitation will be held at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan St. LaGrange, IN on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A 7 p.m. Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday.

Private family graveside service will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.

Memorials may be contributed to the LaGrange American Legion Post #215.
