Erma Irene Curtis, age 86, formerly of Constantine, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at The Waters of LaGrange, IN. She was born February 28, 1938, a daughter of Paul and Dora (Schrock) Birky of Middlebury. She was the first of five children.
Erma met the love of her life, Darrell Curtis, while showing horses in competitions. They were married November 12, 1966 in Coldwater. Together they continued to show horses and taught children how to ride and dress for competition, especially 4-H youth horse competitions.
Erma worked several years at Coachman Company in Middlebury. Later Erma and Darrell moved to Florida, where she worked for several years as a supervisor for a hospital’s building service. Following this, they moved to Constantine. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of White Pigeon and served several years as a Deacon. Erma and Darrell loved to travel, and saw all 50 of the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Darrell Curtis on May 24, 2009, siblings, Bud, Mary, Martha and Mabel. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
