John Parker, 84

John L. Parker, age 84, of Sturgis, went home to be with his Lord, on Monday, December 16, 2024, at The Sparrow House in Sturgis. John was born October 17, 1940, in Sturgis, the son of Louis and Irene (Pagels) Parker, and has lived all of his life in the Sturgis area. In his early years he helped on the family farm, and then retired from GTE in 1996. He was known for his carpentry, woodworking, and his ability to fix anything. His sense of humor was known by many. He enjoyed playing and teaching card games to his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially on family vacations. Surviving are his wife, Rosemary, whom he married November 4, 1967; 2 children, Christopher (Daniela) Parker of Byron Center, and Danielle (Ryan) Oliver of Bangor; 5 grandchildren, Bethany, Walter, Logan, Lucas, Tyler; brother, Earl (Karen) Parker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will meet friends from 11AM to 1PM Friday, December 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 1050 E. Fawn River Road, Sturgis, where the funeral service will be at 1:00. A private burial will be held in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Sturgis. Arrangements entrusted to the Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home.
