Rick Brueck, 72

Rick L. Brueck, age 72, of Mendon, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo following a brief illness. He was born in Three Rivers on June 24, 1952 the son of Robert and Marilyn Ruth (Happel) Brueck. Rick attended Mendon High School and was part of the 1971 graduating class. Immediately following graduation, Rick would go to work at the Haas Corporation/I.A.C. for 46 years until his retirement. He was a simple guy who enjoyed a simple life; a member of the U.A.W. Local 503, attending stock car races in Galesburg, cheering on the Michigan Wolverines, and traveling to watch any sporting event the Mendon Hornets were involved in. He loved his family and was a terrific uncle to the little ones. Rick was a man of few words, but when he decided to use them, he always treated people with respect and courtesy.

Rick is survived by his two siblings; Tim Brueck of Mendon and Lisa (Jesse) Johnson of Coldwater; nephew Cameron Johnson; niece Courtney (Jacob Kling) Johnson; aunt Donna Dick; and many cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marilyn.

A visitation for Rick will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 11am until 1pm at the Eickhoff Funeral Home (311 West Main Street, Mendon, MI 49072) with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 with Pastor Darrin Brown officiating. Immediately following, burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery. It is suggested that donations made in Rick’s name be directed to the Mendon High School Foundation to benefit the athletes he enjoyed watching.
