Sheriff’s department begins providing security service to Glen Oaks

A security agreement between Glen Oaks Community College and the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department has been implemented.

A three-year contract was established earlier this year, resulting in the Centreville-area campus receiving security service from the sheriff’s department. The arrangement started Nov. 18.

Capt. T.J. Baker will serve as campus safety director, overseeing weekday security operations. Baker said a greater law-enforcement presence will be seen on campus.

Baker’s responsibilities include training and supervising part-time security personnel for evening and weekend coverage; maintaining campus safety equipment; and conducting safety training and emergency-preparedness exercises.
