Warren “Bud” Rentz, age 88

Warren Dean “Bud” Rentz, age 88, of Sturgis went to be with his Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at his home.

He was born August 29, 1936, in Burt, Iowa, son of the late Estel and Jeannette (Murray) Rentz.

Bud grew up in Burt and was a graduate of Burt High School with the class of 1954.

While attending Railroad Communication School in Minneapolis, he met Darlene Pinkerton from Constantine, and they were married in Center City, Minnesota on March 5, 1955. She preceded him in death March 26, 2022.

Bud and Darlene lived in Constantine until 1959 when they moved to Sturgis where they raised four sons.

He had been employed at Montgomery Ward, the U.S. Post Office, and Fisher Body.

He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis.

Bud seemed to always have a handy man project around the house that he was working on, and he loved camping with his family.

He is survived by his four sons: Bruce (Maria) Rentz and Brian (Tania) Rentz both of Grand Rapids, Marc (Babs) Rentz of Forest, Virginia and Craig (Barna) Rentz of Sturgis; 13 grandchildren: Lisa, Adam, Kasie, Erin, Mary, Jenny, Matthew, Michelle, Seth, Ashley, Aidan, Adamay and Colin; 14 great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew all in Iowa

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, stepmother: Selma and brother: Russell Rentz.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 Thursday, January 2nd at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis and from 10:00 to 11:00 Friday, Jan. 3rd at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Warren “Bud” Rentz will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00. The Rev Derin Warnecke of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Winneconne, Wisconsin will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1108 E. Lafayette St., Sturgis, MI 49091.
