She was born August 19, 1944, in Garrett, Indiana, daughter of the late Charles Wansitler and late Grace (DePew) Schworm.
She spent her early years living in Indiana, attending Brighton, Indiana schools. She married Dale Summey on May 27, 1961, at the Howe Presbyterian Church in Howe, Indiana. Together, they had three daughters, Sherry, Terri and Lisa. In 1966, the family moved to Sturgis, and it is there that they raised their family. In 1997 she retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following 22 years of dedicated employment. Prior to joining the Kirsch Company, she worked for several years at the Citizens State Bank in Sturgis.
Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sturgis. Wilma enjoyed playing cards with the “card girls” as they were frequently referred to. She also enjoyed playing on the Kirsch golf league. In her spare time, she could be found either doing cross-stitch or reading a good book, often a Danielle Steele or Debbie Macomber book. She and Dale loved to travel and traveled to nearly all 50 of the United States. They took annual family vacations, as well as going on bus trips with their many friends, visiting sites such as San Antonio, TX, New York City, St. Louis, Branson, MO, Cape Cod, MA, as well as Florida, Arizona and Washington, DC. One of their favorite vacations was traveling to Honolulu for their 50th wedding anniversary.
Wilma truly loved the time spent with her family, especially playing cards and baking with her grandchildren. Her daughters and grandchildren will forever remember her and Dale attending nearly every event they were involved in, from track meets, Lacrosse matches, cheerleading events, soccer games, football games, baseball/softball games or musical performances.
