With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carmen Misa, on January 8, 2025 at the age of 84. Born on January 15, 1940, she was a beacon of love, joy, and grace who inspired all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Carmen was a dependable, gentle, and loving soul who devoted her life to her family. Her warmth and unmatched compassion were unparalleled, and her presence illuminated every room she entered. Known for her natural beauty and elegance, she cherished her daily routine of wearing her favorite jewelry, applying makeup, and taking care of herself—a reflection of the light within her.
One of Carmen’s greatest joys was her love for nature. She found peace in walking through gardens, admiring trees, and marveling at the beauty of the world. In her later years, she continued to bring happiness to everyone with her humorous jokes and lively dancing that seemed to transcend time.
As a traveler, Carmen lived a life full of adventures and unforgettable memories. From cruising the seas and fishing in Virginia to attending her grandchild’s wedding in Hawaii, her life was rich with experiences. Yet, her greatest joy was found in the company of her family. As a loving mother of seven children, (Filipina M Sanford, Mercidita and Tito Gellego, Angelina and Mike Crossgrove, Marilyn and Thomas Wright, Franklin Misa, Barbra and Roberto Misa, Jocelyn and Raymond de Vera), grandmother to eleven grandchildren, and great-grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren, Carmen’s love and care created a legacy of devotion that will carry on through generations. In their presence, she truly shone, offering unconditional love and creating cherished memories that will last forever.
Carmen lived a long and healthy life, a testament to her dedication to self-care and her love for those around her. Although her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit endures. She bravely faced the challenges of staying in this world, but when the time came, she chose to return to God, ready to embrace eternal peace.
Her passing brought our family closer, a reminder to hold hands, cherish every moment, and remember the love she shared. To have known her was a blessing, and to be loved by her was an immeasurable gift.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and unwavering devotion.
Relatives and friends will be received at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025 from 11AM to 1PM, and a service will be held at 1:00 to honor her beautiful and meaningful life.
