Man injured in Jones altercation

A Cass County man required medical treatment after he was stabbed over the weekend in Newberg Township.

Sheriff Clint Roach said deputies were called at 4 a.m. Sunday to High Street in the community of Jones in response to a man who had suffered multiple knife wounds.

The victim was given aid by deputies to control his bleeding. He was then turned over to the care of medical first responders and transported to Elkhart General Hospital.

Deputies arrested a 20-year-old man who was a short distance away from the residence. According to investigators, the incident occurred after a domestic assault had taken place earlier between the suspect and a woman. The dispute happened in a residence the three share.

The victim was injured after becoming involved in the altercation.
