Nelson L. Wooster, age 96, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Sparrow House Senior Living in Sturgis.
He was born at home in Orland, Indiana, on January 4, 1929, son of the late Lester A. and Mary (Cecil) Wooster.
Nelson resided in Sturgis since 1972, coming from Howe, Indiana.
He was first married to Mary Lou McManus. This marriage ended in divorce. On August 27, 1965, he married Caroline M. Holtz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. She preceded him in death November 11, 2008.
Nelson owned and operated N W Welding and Fabricating in Sturgis from 1971-1998, retiring at age 70.
He is survived by his children: Jackie (Bill) Brown of Gaylord, Debra (Bruce) Bradley of Alabama, Vicky (Michael) Howell of Goshen, Indiana and Scott Wooster of Carlsbad, California; daughter-in-law: Lori Boughton of Sturgis; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, sons: Walter Wooster and Alvin Wooster; sisters: Carol Wagner and Mabel Evans and brother: James Wooster.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Saturday, Jan. 11th at Brighton Chapel Church, 5415 IN-3, Howe, IN 46746 where a celebration of a life well lived will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00. Pastor Rustin Krapfl will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the celebration of life at Brighton Cemetery.
